![]() Ummmmmm.our 2.75 year old still gets in this for three meals a day. I also really like how it reclines back, so it's great for newborns, or for when baby drinks a bottle. The only problem I have is that I really wish the tray had a removable liner so I could just take if off and throw it in the dishwasher, but the tray is small and easy to remove, so it's not too hard to wash. Perfect if you are having a different gender than your first, like I did. ![]() I was so happy to see that they offer additional color/pattern options for slipcovers, so I just bought a new one and changed the look completely. It fits all of my chairs (as long as they have a back, of course) and saves so much space (hence the name, lol) It was so small and compact that I was able to put it on a top shelf in my child's closet when she outgrew it, until me second baby arrived and started using it. and I absolutely love it!!! I have used the same chair for two babies, and it's so nice not to have a big, bulky high chair taking up space in my home. I received this as a gift for my baby shower, and almost returned it because it was not the high chair I registered for, but I decided to keep it and try it. It has a 5 point harness with the tall back & just a lap belt for older kids just using the booster. With the arms still attached, it will not fit at the table, which is annoying (but they do come off!) Also, the back of the chair comes off for when you want to use it as just a booster. ![]() My husband just unscrewed them so that now my daughter (2 1/2) can be pushed up to the table. The chair has different recline positions, so you can adjust it as your baby grows & gains more head support. It is very portable & easy to travel with. It can also be used alone on the floor this comes in handy when you don't have a lot of seating, or when travelling, etc. It has been wonderful! It can fit on any chair for your table it has straps that snap under & behind the chair and you can tighten them to make it sturdy. I bought the Space Saver high chair & booster seat because my nephews had one & I liked the idea of not having a separate high chair to have to mess with. True Love this booster/high chair after 2 1/2 years! I have solved the issue by taking it to the sink for a spray down every day or so and removing the seat from the base and putting it through the dishwasher from time to time as well, neither things that can be done easily with a full size highchair. My only complaint about this highchair is that it has more nooks and crannies than I would like in terms of cleaning it, and my daughter is capable of getting food into each and every one of them. Now that we are in the house her highchair stays on a kitchen chair where we usually eat, but when we want to have a meal in the dining room it is as easy as can be to unstrap it from one chair and move it to another. Either way our girl was secure and comfortable and she was right at the right height for us to help her. When we were still in the apartment we could attach it to a chair at the small eating counter in the kitchen or (more often than not) just place it on the floor next to the coffee table. I saw the Space Saver highchair early in my research and knew right away that it was the one for us. Most meals my husband and I ate at the coffee table in the living room. When we were expecting our daughter we were living in a small apartment without an actual dining room. Giving this a 9 only because the seat cover is a pain to remove and put back on. The seat cover does wipe up nicely but it is also removable and can be put in the dishwasher, along with the straps. ![]() The tray is easily removed with one hand and it is dishwasher safe. Love the five point harness for younger kids! I'm giving this an 8 because of it did not live up to it's claims of versatility as far as booster seat goes. We found this to be very sturdy and durable through two kids, despite them being rough on it as they got older. Unfortunately, the booster seat function did not work for us at all because the arm rests on the chair were too high to fit under the table top, so we could not slide the chair close to the table. The information on the box said it could also be used as a booster seat, which is another reason I choose this item on my registry. I registered for this space saver high chair and it worked great as a high chair. So when we found out we were expecting we didn't really want to try to squeeze a high chair into the area as well. The dining area in our house is relatively small we have a dining room table and four chairs and there really isn't much room for anything else.

After it burns out, no additional fuel is decremented from the fuel slot if the upper slot is empty. For example, a piece of coal burns for 80 seconds and can smelt eight items, but if only one item is smelted (or if the item is pulled out before smelting is complete), the coal still continues burning for the full 80 seconds, wasting seven items worth of smelting. The fuel continues burning until it is consumed, regardless of whether the upper slot has any items remaining to smelt. As soon as smelting begins, the fuel slot is decremented immediately and that unit of fuel begins burning. The number of items that a fuel source can smelt depends on the type of fuel. A furnace smelts items at a speed of one item every 200 game ticks (10 seconds) or six items per minute. A fuel source (up to one stack of fuel items) is placed in the lower slot, and the items (up to one stack) to be smelted are placed in the upper slot. The bottom line? If your boat represents a large investment and you want to protect it, a good shrink wrap job done by a real pro is the hands-down best way to safeguard your boat through the winter. You like to go boating even when there's ice at the ramp? Then heat shrink wrap probably isn't what you need. For 99 percent of us this isn't a problem, but for those who are willing to break ice for a winter fishing trip or to enjoy cold-water activities like recreational oyster tonging, shrink wrap will prove frustrating when the opportunity to get out on the water arises. There's one other potential down-side to using heat shrink wrap on a boat: once wrapped, there’s no way you can use it. So for the vast majority of the boat owners out there, using heat shrink wrap simply isn't a DIY project. And remember, your first learning experience will be on one of your most prized possessions. If the installer is inexperienced he might end up scorching the boat, or worse-and many part-time installers don’t even have the insurance needed to cover that type of damage.” What about those do-it-yourself kits? A tarp and some rope, on the other hand, can be bought for peanuts. Even a small boat can cost several hundred dollars to shrink wrap, and protecting a large boat could cost you a lot more. Should You Shrink Wrap Your Boat? So, what’s the down-side to shrink wrap? The expense. That seal not only keeps the weather out of your boat, it also prevents the stretching and tearing tarps commonly display after a few months in the elements. Shrink wrap is a polyethylene which has UV inhibitors, and is formulated to shrink when heated to create a seal which is much tighter than the one you or I can make with a tarp and ropes. Most of Io’s surface is characterized by extensive plains coated with sulfur and sulfur dioxide frost. Unlike most satellites in the outer Solar System, which are mostly composed of water-ice, Io is primarily composed of silicate rock surrounding a molten iron or iron sulfide core. Some of these peaks are taller than Earth’s Mount Everest. Io’s surface is dotted with, besides volcanoes and lava flows, more than 100 mountains. Ions escaping from this torus inflate Jupiter’s magnetosphere to over twice the size we would expect. Io’s volcanic ejecta also produce a large doughnut-shaped cloud of intense radiation referred to as a plasma torus. The materials produced by this volcanism provide material for Io’s extremely thin, patchy atmosphere. Numerous extensive lava flows, several more than 500 km in length, also mark the surface. Recent analysis of data reveals a subsurface ocean of molten or partially molten magma beneath the surface. A global magma ocean lying beneath about 30 to 50 km of Io’s crust helps explain the moon’s activity. Io’s volcanoes, distributed all over its surface, are the only known active magma volcanoes in the solar system other than those on Earth. Several volcanoes produce plumes of sulfur and sulfur dioxide (SO2) that climb as high as 500 km above the surface. This extreme geologic activity is the result of tidal heating from friction generated within Io’s interior as it is pulled between Jupiter and the other Galilean satellites-Europa, Ganymede and Callisto. With over 400 active volcanoes, Io is the most geologically active object in the Solar System. Image Credit: NASA/JPL/University of Arizona Similarly, if the paths taken by the two waves differ by any integral number of wavelengths ( λ, 2 λ, 3 λ, etc. More generally, if the paths taken by the two waves differ by any half-integral number of wavelengths ( 1 2 λ, 3 2 λ, 5 2 λ, etc. If the paths differ by a whole wavelength, then the waves arrive in phase (crest to crest) at the screen, interfering constructively. Waves start out from the slits in phase (crest to crest), but they will end up out of phase (crest to trough) at the screen if the paths differ in length by half a wavelength, interfering destructively. Thus different numbers of wavelengths fit into each path. Each slit is a different distance from a given point on the screen. To understand the basis of such calculations, consider how two waves travel from the slits to the screen. The fact that the wavelength of light of one color, or monochromatic light, can be calculated from its two-slit diffraction pattern in Young’s experiments supports the conclusion that light has wave properties. Note that the sign of an angle is always ≥ 1. Opposite means opposite the given acute angle. The sine of an angle is the opposite side of a right triangle divided by the hypotenuse. The plurals of maximum and minimum are maxima and minima, respectively.Įxplain that monochromatic means one color. Both are pronounced the way you would expect from the spelling. It will be useful not only in describing how light waves propagate, but also in how they interfere. ![]() Huygens’s principle works for all types of waves, including water waves, sound waves, and light waves. The new wavefront is a line tangent to the wavelets and is where the wave is located at time t. These are drawn later at a time, t, so that they have moved a distance s = v t s = v t. Each point on the wavefront emits a semicircular wave that moves at the propagation speed v. A wavefront is the long edge that moves for example, the crest or the trough. The new wavefront is a line tangent to all of the wavelets.”įigure 17.4 shows how Huygens’s principle is applied. Huygens’s principle states, “Every point on a wavefront is a source of wavelets that spread out in the forward direction at the same speed as the wave itself. He used wavefronts, which are the points on a wave’s surface that share the same, constant phase (such as all the points that make up the crest of a water wave). The Dutch scientist Christiaan Huygens (1629–1695) developed a useful technique for determining in detail how and where waves propagate. Although wavelengths change while traveling from one medium to another, colors do not, since colors are associated with frequency. It follows that the wavelength of light is smaller in any medium than it is in vacuum. Where λ λ is the wavelength in vacuum and n is the medium’s index of refraction. As it is characteristic of wave behavior, interference is observed for water waves, sound waves, and light waves. ![]() Here we see the beam spreading out horizontally into a pattern of bright and dark regions that are caused by systematic constructive and destructive interference. Passing a pure, one-wavelength beam through vertical slits with a width close to the wavelength of the beam reveals the wave character of light. The laser beam emitted by the observatory represents ray behavior, as it travels in a straight line. In Figure 17.2, both the ray and wave characteristics of light can be seen. Interference is the identifying behavior of a wave. However, when it interacts with smaller objects, it displays its wave characteristics prominently. As is true for all waves, light travels in straight lines and acts like a ray when it interacts with objects several times as large as its wavelength. The range of visible wavelengths is approximately 380 to 750 nm. Where c = 3.00 × 10 8 c = 3.00 × 10 8 m/s is the speed of light in vacuum, f is the frequency of the electromagnetic wave in Hz (or s –1), and λ λ is its wavelength in m.
